Dad is 90
Dad turned 90 this week. The family got together at Debbie & Rob’s house to celebrate the way we usually do. With dim sum and cake.
Other than a few orthopedic issues, dad hasn’t changed much at all. He still reads books at a snail’s pace but retains every detail. He has a constant stream of new stories to tell. And writes wicked sharp letters to the editor when down at their winter spot at Lake Havesu.
He sports the restless energy that marks our entire family. Never staying still - doing things he shouldn’t. Like tackling the weeds on the hill of their backyard. And getting up on a ladder despite being asked not to. He is stubbornly persistent. But in the best possible way.
Alberta is the love of his life. Spending time with the two of them renews everyone’s faith in true love. They like and adore each other so much. They married when Noelle was 1 and now she’s 29 so that must be 28 years.
Bottom line - I want to be like my dad when I grow up.
