The story of my incredible immune system, 2 vaccines and a booster.
Thursday 12.23.22.
Wake up happy. Have been back in Seattle 4 days after 10 spent in Manhattan. Went to a Bach concert at Lincoln Center. Saw Wicked on Broadway. Two movies at the theater up the street. Italian dinner with my neighbors. Ran around Central Park every morning before work. Bliss.
We’ve finished our year end work for the firm partnership. I’ve given the great news to all the associates. Will finish up telling staff today. But first - off to cookie decorating with my daughter’s family. Can’t wait to see them. Sniffle. Ignore it.
Prepare three clients for deposition. Sign off. Get ready to leave. Sniffle.
I had taken a covid test Tuesday the day after I returned. First time had ever done one on myself. Easy. Negative. Yay. Then I forgot about it. Except the headlines kept talking about NY. Sniffle.
It had been glorious weather wise in NY. But as the week wore on it got cold. And my nose began to run. I assumed it was just nasal drip. Allergy ish. Ignored it.
And now…with keys in hand ready to see my Cristina, Sol and their unvaccinated babies… pause. There is another test left. Weigh the options. Would be too bad to waste it. Then again better to be safe than sorry. Even though my immune system is obviously incredible. Plus looked at vaccine card. Had the booster on Nov. 11 - just 6 weeks ago. Plus feel fine except this little drip.
Take the test. Prepare to wait for 10 minutes. It takes 1. Positive.
Call my girls. And start crying. Not because feel ill because I don’t. But because I almost walked out the door and would have exposed everyone including the sweet little darlings.
To be continued.
